We welcome volunteers of all ages to volunteer in our nursing home.

Volunteer Policy

The Home have a system in place to identify clear guidelines of volunteers’ involvement for programmes/outings as well as the effective management of volunteer database. For these, the nursing home would:

Develop a plan in accordance with the categories of volunteers, profile and suggested activities.
Define clear and concise practice of volunteers’ scope of work.
Ensure that all volunteers are selected and evaluated based on standards required.

Volunteering can be as simple as just being a friend to our patients. We actively canvass for volunteers to engage and bring cheer to our elderly sick, who need nursing care. Volunteers may be student groups, working adults, religious organisations, pet therapists or community help groups.
We are an IPC(Institution of a Public Character) registered organisation. Therefore, under Business and IPC Partnership Scheme (BIPS), all businesses will enjoy tax deduction on qualifying expenditure incurred when they send their employees to volunteer and provide services at our organisation.

	Music Facilitator	Conduct sing along sessions OR create individual playlist for specific seniors with their favourite songs OR join in any of the musical performances
	Art & Craft	Conduct art and craft for seniors OR assist seniors during art and craft conducted by teachers/coaches
	Games Coordinator	Conduct indoor games for seniors
Outings	Places of Interest	Accompany and assist the seniors with organised outing to places of interest such as Garden by the Bay, Festive Light-up, Carnivals etc..
Therapy Support	Exercise Facilitator/Therapy Support	Encourage seniors to participate in group or individual exercise sessions. Rehab Sessions
Therapy Support	Animal Therapy Support	Assist and support with Animal Assisted Therapy with pets OR accompany seniors as they participate in outdoor horse therapy
Befriending	Meal Assistance	Assist seniors and nurses during meals times and feed those who need assistance
Befriending	Befriender Care	Befriend a senior or seniors and meet regularly to have conversations especially those who are single destitute with no family support

The dedicated staff of Mandarin Oriental Hotel recently engaged in volunteer work at Thye Hua Kwan Nursing Home, bringing joy and support to the residents. Our team is committed to making a positive impact in our community through meaningful volunteer activities.

Our seniors enjoyed a wonderful day at Bird Paradise, immersed in the vibrant sights and sounds of nature. With colourful, exotic birds soaring above and lush, scenic landscapes surrounding them, the outing offered moments of joy, relaxation, and inspiration. Our dedicated staff and volunteers ensured that each participant felt supported, making this day both memorable and uplifting.

Our pet therapy sessions bring warmth, companionship, and smiles to our residents. These interactions create a sense of calm, reduce stress, and foster a positive environment, lifting the spirits of everyone involved. Guided by compassionate handlers, each visit is tailored to ensure comfort and enjoyment, bringing the soothing presence of animals into our community for all to cherish.

Our dedicated volunteers from the Filipino Caregiver Group brought joy and warmth to our resident with their recent visit. They created a lively, welcoming atmosphere filled with music, treats, and engaging activities that lifted everyone’s spirits. Their kindness and heartfelt interactions made the day truly special for everyone.

In this heartwarming scene, People's Association volunteers accompany our residents on a joyful Christmas outing. Set against a backdrop of festive lights and a towering, vibrant Christmas tree, the group radiates holiday cheer, with smiles and Santa hats adding to the festive spirit. The outing beautifully illustrates the power of community and the joy that shared moments bring during the holidays.

We were delighted to host the Singapore Airlines cabin crew for a heartwarming morning of volunteering with our seniors. The crew enthusiastically participated in activities such as morning exercises, arts and crafts, karaoke, and even helped serve lunch to our seniors with dementia

We are appreciative of Beautiful Mind Charity Singapore, recently engaged in volunteer work at Thye Hua Kwan Nursing Home, bringing joy and support to the residents. Our team is committed to making a positive impact in our community through meaningful volunteer activities.

We are grateful to Montfort School for their heartfelt contribution and look forward to more collaborative efforts to brighten the lives of our residents at Thye Hua Kwan Nursing Home.

Raffles Kidz International held a full-day staff retreat at our nursing home, where 50 staff members actively engaged with our residents through various meaningful activities in both the hall and the wards. Our residents enjoyed a wonderful time, filled with fun, laughter, and warmth, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the volunteers.
